6. You should see a screen like below upon successful login. Downloadable datasets are available in either Stata, SPSS, or R formats.

7. Future logins can be made at the following website: https://share-project.centerdata.nl/sharedatadissemination/users/login

8. Visit g2aging.org and register for access to the Gateway to Global Aging Data website.

9. Once logged in to the website, select “Harmonized Data” > "Get Data"

10. In the End of Life table, click on "Harmonized SHARE End of Life"

Download the Harmonized SHARE End of Life Stata Creation Code and the Harmonized SHARE End of Life Codebook at the link provided.

13. To run the Harmonized SHARE End of Life Creation Code in Stata:

  • From SHARE Research Data Center, download the 8.0.0 release Stata data for Waves 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8.  Download the All Waves Coverscreen Release 8.0.0 for Stata.
  • Make sure you have already created the Harmonized SHARE version F. For information on creating the Harmonized SHARE visit: https://g2aging.org/?section=page&pageid=22.
  • Edit line 12 of the Stata Creation Code to list the folder location of the SHARE Coverscreen files.  Edit lines 13-19 of the Stata Creation Code to list the folder location of the SHARE data for each wave. Edit line 20 to list the location of the Harmonized SHARE version F dataset. Edit line 21 to list the folder location where you would like to save the Harmonized SHARE End of Life dataset.

If you would prefer to work with the Harmonized SHARE End of Life dataset in a statistical package other than Stata, you can convert the Harmonized SHARE End of Life Stata dataset using a program such as Stat/Transfer. If you do not have access to Stat/Transfer, you may be able to read the .dta dataset into your stat package using an “import” or “get” function. When reading a .dta dataset into another package, it is best to first save the dataset in a Stata version 12 format using the command saveold.

*Please note that while these instructions provide a general overview of the process to access Harmonized SHARE End of Life data via the Study Website, the exact steps and interface may vary slightly.
