EDUCATION POLICIES
The Education Policy Explorer captures historical education policies across countries. Compulsory schooling policies evolved significantly from 1900 to 2000. The large majority of European countries required only primary education (6 to 8 years) in 1900. Today most require 10 to 12 years. The key dimensions of the Explorer are country and time. Select countries and then click View to see policy details. You can compare multiple countries or view one country’s policy. Watch our example video demonstrating the key features of the Policy Explorer here ( 4:03).
