To run the Harmonized ELSA COVID Creation Code in Stata:
- From UK Data Archive, download the Stata version of the English Longitudinal Study of Ageing COVID-19 Study data file as Version G.2 of the Harmonized ELSA data is required to make this dataset.
- From UK Data Archive, download the Stata version of the English Longitudinal Study of Ageing.
- Edit line 12 of the Stata Creation Code to list the folder location of the ELSA COVID-19 Study data Stata files. Edit line 13 to list to the location of the Harmonized ELSA Version G2 Stata dataset. Edit line 14 to list the folder location where you would like to save the Harmonized ELSA COVID dataset.
If you would prefer to work with the Harmonized ELSA COVID dataset in a statistical package other than Stata, you can convert the Harmonized ELSA COVID Stata dataset using a program such as Stat/Transfer. If you do not have access to Stat/Transfer, you may be able to read the .dta dataset into your stat package using an “import” or “get” function. When reading a .dta dataset into another package, it is best to first save the dataset in a Stata version 12 format using the command saveold.
