SHARE is a cross-national panel study of people aged 50 and older and their partners, living in private households in all 26 continental countries of the European Union, Switzerland, and Israel. Its main goal is to provide a multidisciplinary data resource on the influence of health and socioeconomic factors on aging at the individual and societal levels. The survey elicits information about demographics, health, cognition, health care use and costs, employment status, income and assets, housing, and expectations.
The SHARE-Romania sample is a nationally representative sample of the population aged 50 and older, living in private households in Romania. The initial sample was recruited in 2017 using a stratified, multistage sampling of households.
|Age Eligibility||Age 50 and older|
|People Interviewed per Household||One person per household|
|Spouse Inclusion||Spouse of any age|

The SHARE core interview was carried out in 2017 using computer-assisted personal interviewing (CAPI).
In addition to the core interview, SHARE-Romania also collects a number of other types of data.
|Life History Interview||Conducted for all respondents at Wave 7.|
|Self-Completion Survey||Provided to all respondents at Wave 7.|
|Health Assessment||Conducted at Wave 7 for all respondents.|
The SHARE-Romania Wave 7 sample included 2,093 selected households. Since then, the SHARE-Romania sample has not been refreshed.
Public access SHARE data are available by request from SHARE - European Research Infrastructure Consortium (SHARE-ERIC). Data are anonymized and available by request from SHARE-ERIC.
The Gateway to Global Aging Data has created several user-friendly datasets based on SHARE data designed to allow researchers to conduct cross-wave and cross-study analysis.
