> About > Overview

Longitudinal Aging Study in India, LASI, is a nationally representative survey of the health, economic, and social wellbeing of the Indian population aged 45 and older. Its large sample of 60,000 adults represents not only the country as a whole, but also each state.

LASI-DAD, Diagnostic Assessment of Dementia, is a hospital-based study, drawing a sub-sample of 3,000 LASI respondents aged 60 or older. It administers in-depth cognitive tests and informant interviews, following the Health and Retirement Study’s Harmonized Cognitive Aging Project (HCAP) protocol. It also conducts a comprehensive geriatric assessment in collaboration with 12 regional geriatric hospitals.
